Nietzche!

"All sciences are now under the obligation to prepare the ground for the future task of the philosopher, which is to solve the problem of value, to determine the true hierarchy of values."

  1. What an unusual claim - that the sciences' job is to help philosophy! Nietzsche was a fascinating man (and not just because he was a classics scholar...:-) with provocative ideas. What do you make of the notion that the central job of human curiosity is to "solve the problem of value"?

  2. well, I am not sure if it is a good idea for humans to be so curious about the problem of value. Afterall, curiosity did kill the cat. Who's to say that we aren't next?
