Name that Fallacy!!
I was wondering, is there a name for the fallacy of "my opponent said something dissagreable on another topic, so he's probably wrong about this topic as well." ? or would this just fall under ad hominem?
Hmmm, I like Sarah's answer. :-) Seriously, though, this might be an example of a particular form of fallacy that hasn't acquired its own name. There are many such out there: as Aristotle said, there are an infinite number of ways to err... I'm perfectly happy to adopt 'ad doofus' as the official MG nomenclature.
I believe the latin name for that one is "ad doofus" though I may be wrong.
